I combine my love of experimenting with different mediums and music by creating art while listening to music. The art is often indicative of the mood the music creates for me.
Sound + Vision
I painted this piece while listening to many David Bowie albums, drawing particular inspiration from the song “Sound and Vision” at the conclusion of this series of works. Although most of the media is acrylic, I also dripped coffee (purposely) on the canvas and used various markers throughout the work.
Suffocation
I painted this while listening to the song “Suffocation” by Crystal Castles. I had recently learned about the abuse one of the band members inflicted on the other band member and this comes out in the mood of the piece.
When You Sleep
I often paint over compositions I dislike, which results in varying textures throughout a work. This painting is the result of painting over many different compositions. I worked on this painting while listening to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless album, which features the track "When You Sleep".
Hey Orpheus
I don't often work in monochrome, so I thought I would see what I could do with just one color of paint. I made this piece while listening to Arcade Fire's Reflektor album.
The Celestials
I created this series in a very small format—the original artwork is 2.5" x 3.5" and I have since scanned it to be reproduced at larger sizes. I made these pieces while listening to The Smashing Pumpkins Oceania album, which features the song "The Celestials". I used watercolor, marker, and colored pencil to create these pieces.
